Route des Ocres and the Colorado Provençal

All day (departure 9.00 am)

Situated next to the little village of Rustrel, lies The Colorado Provençal

For over two hundred years it was used for the exploitation of ocre. Now, various  marked paths will lead you to the heart of this extraordinary landscape. We will follow the signs leading to the 'Sahara desert'. Flamboyant colours from bright yellow to burnt orange and blood red, will give you a sense of being on an another planet. The fairy chimneys in all their splendours are a sight to be seen.

There is a pizzeria on site for lunch, or, you can bring a picnic.

The village of Gordes is in itself a highlight. Perched on golden blond rocks,  Gordes is simply a beautiful provencal hilltop village and boasts amazing views across the Luberon.  It has charming narrow paved cobbled streets to explore. Whilst leisurely strolling around, discover beautiful old doorways and arches.

The imposing Chateau which dominates the village, dates back to the 10th century and now holds a museum.

Roussillon

We will then stop at the picturesque village of Roussillon, here you will see the ocre in all its glory. Take the time to wander around the narrow streets and enjoy one of the prettiest villages in France.

Trainers are recommended (the coloured sands can stain)
