Plateau de Ganagobie - Perched village of Lurs

1/2 day (departure 14.00 pm)

45€ per person / 25€ per children (- 12 years old)

Come and discover one of the jewels of the Alpes de Haute Provence
The plateau of Ganagobie was formed more than 20 million years ago and is full of surprises.

A Roman church, mosaics unique in France, an ancient quarry and more. A little windy road will lead us to the plateau where there are amazing views across the Durance valley.
The Benedictine monks who live, work and pray there, run a little boutique full of regional products which is opened in the afternoons. We will have plenty of time to go there at the end of the visit.

Good shoes are recommended as the ground is uneven and there is 500 meters walk from the parking to the church.

Open all year Tuesday to Sunday.
Open every day in the summer holidays.

One of the highlights of the régional Park of the Luberon, the perched village of Lurs is surrounded by ancient olive groves and dry stone walls typical in Provence.
Lurs offers spectacular views over the Durance Valley, and the surrounding mountains. It is also on the famous Via Domitia.
The labyrinth of cobbled streets will lead you trough this charming village past ancient doors and windows, small chapels, archways and part of an old castle which was home to the bishops of Sisteron.
Follow the little stone cobbles with letters inscribed on them and discover the enigma they hold, as well as the origins and the evolution of writing. Lurs is the site for a yearly conference bringing graphic designers from around the world.
The 2 restaurants and the boutique are open all year round and the local olive oil on offer is still fabricated traditionally nearby
